Present Tenses

We use the present tenses to talk about the present time. But in a different way. Look at the chart and learn the differences between these two tenses.
 
 
Present Simple Present Continuous
* Use the present simple for regular events:
 
We usually have dinner at 8
* Use the present continuous to describe what is happening at the moment:
 
We are watching TV at the moment
* Use the present simple for  permanent states:          
                          
She works in a bank
* Use the present continuous for temporary states:
  
This year he's studying in Italy

Writing
Write sentences using the present simple (Usually/sometimes/once a week...) or the present continuous (now/at the moment/this year ...)
1. Tom (sleep) now. Don't make any noise.
2. My sister often (play) the piano.
3. Every Monday she (drive) her children to tennis classes.
4. They (win) the match right now.
5. Ian usually (work) as a secretary at IBM.
6. This year James (write) a book about his adventures in Africa.
7. I (go) to an art class at the college this term.

that Those
► We use this / these to refer to something or someone that is near, and that / those to refer to something or someone that is far
 
This / That / These / Those can function  as pronouns when they substitute a noun.
"These roses are red and those are pink"
 
They can function as adjectives when they accompany  a noun
"I like this sweater"   
"Do you like those jeans?"
